Why is the older population too vain to get their hearing checked out but yet they aren't too vain to shout their conversations out like they already have lost their hearing? What's wrong with that picture? Are they losing their minds too?

Why do I create a roster of older people whom I admire? What does that do? Am I to hang on to this list somewhere and remind myself aging isn't so bad since a few wise a**es I respect and admire have survived longer than I? Is that the consolation here? Seems like quite a crock of .... I'm going to fight getting old every step of the way. Quality of life is determined by having a positive attitude not the embracing of getting old. Sorry Anne. Not with ya on this.

The power of positive thinking can do wonders. I really do believe it. I have had joint pain and aches and just from my thinking, the effects have waned. Even my mother follows this way of thinking. It really does work.

Life is what you make of it. No matter what your situation try to look on the bright side. Reach out for friendship. Read and enjoy yourself. Our brain is Gods greatest gift, so use it.

Maybe cause and effect are swapped in this article. Maybe peolple who do not age well have just a less positive view of old age. It is less easy to see old age as a great part of life when you can no longer do the things that once made you the happiest.

"2. Create a roster of older people whom you admire - Nelson Mandela, Toni Morrison, Jane Goodall, Paul Newman, Betty Ford, Madeline Albright, George H.W. Bush, Joan Didion, Maya Angelou, John Updike, Judi Dench. " George H.W. Bush ?? Are you kidding?? That is such a deluded inclusion, that this article should be removed from the web immediately.

It really IS an attitude or perspective thing. I was well on my way to being a crabby old lady until I saw a show by Dr. Wayne Dyer. Now I see that I can feel young and be happy no matter what's going on around me! I feel younger and look better than ever!

How can you say all of that really intelligent and interesting information, and then put George Bush on a list of admirable people?

Why on earth is George H.W. Bush included in the list of people "whom you admire"? It was his foolish lack of control that resulted in his hapless son George W being born. And look at the path George W has led the country down. Given that, the last person on earth who should be on a list of people whom you admire is someone foolish enough to have produced the worst president in the nation's history. Why not remove George H.W. from the list and replace him with Kermit the Frog? At least Kermit has some ethics.

I am 65 but the girl that does my hair yesterday when we were talking age asked me my age and I told her she said nooooo your not!! She guessed no older than 55! Made me feel great. But like I told her I am not giving in to how ones perceive "older women" as doddering, stretch blue pants, orthopedic shoes, short grey curly style hair...oh no, give me my wedges, jeans, fashionable hair styles. Know some that their health does not allow them my benefits so there is exceptions to the rule, but for now, I am enjoying life and fighting to stay young in thoughts and health as long as I am able.
