Great advice. I''ve never heard that getting to sleep earlier actually was more beneficial in terms of trying to lose weight. I do know as I age it gets harder and harder to rev my metabolism. I exercised vigorously for over 6 months and ate carefully before I saw any significant weight loss benefits, but it has begun to pay dividends FINALLY!

Very good advise. The sleep comments are very important and the most unknown of all of those posted. Also important to note: Those who are already overweight-if you snore, are tired during the day, have diabetes, high blood pressure or are noted to stop breathing during the night-get a sleep study. Obstructive sleep apnea will have the similar effect. You get less sleep and it is poor in nature and structure. You can actually GAIN weight with this disorder. Get treated, feel better, and get yourself healthy.

Get rid of your car? Hah! Right. That is easy for someone who lives within 5 miles from everything. How about those who have to drive 20 miles to work everyday? I think not.

This comment was made by a lady by the name of Ellen G. White over 100 years ago:"I know from the testimonies given me from time to time for brain workers, that sleep is worth far more before than after midnight. Two hours' good sleep before twelve o'clock is worth more than four hours after twelve o'clock. . . . " {7MR 224.3} (She was ahead of her times on many principles of health and diet.)

I really appreciated your observations much of it I've witnessed first hand. It is reassuring to know continued inroads are being made in understanding body works. Brilliant is not one of the adjectives I've used for the body.I wonder is there any way to turn off this self preservationist trend or restore the bodies confidence that you are not going to starve it? Thank You.
