In my last entry, I wrote about stress sending us spinning out of control. Here's what we can do about it...
- Exercise. It's a great emotional release.
- Eat well. Make sure you watch the caffeine, sugar, and processed foods. Everything we put into our mouths can affect our moods. You better believe it.
- Eat green. Make sure you eat enough green foods (neutralizing) to counter balance all the acidic food we eat (protein, nuts, sugar, coffee, etc.). Once in a while I will even go to a juice bar and have a green juice (spinach, kale, cucumber, parsley with lemon) just to give myself an extra boost of green.
- Read something uplifting or positive. Turn off the TV and read something that is nurturing to your soul.
- Take a walk. Reconnect with your environment.
- Make time for yourself. Once a day do something for the sake of enjoyment. Be it talking to a favorite person, eating a nibble of chocolate, looking at the flowers, taking a long hot shower, getting a massage, meditating, etc. Take a moment for you. Get centered and aligned with that ideal you. The calm you. The wise you.
- Balance it out. If all you do is work and yell at the kids then figure it out. Have a fun day with your friends or family no matter what. Laugh together. Do nothing and just be together.
As they say, life is for the living and it's happening now. When I get right down to it I ask myself "what exactly am I getting so irritated about?" Then I have to figure out is it really worth it?
The only way to get different results is to create new behavior. Remind yourself that it is your choice. Just find the tools that can help you when the craziness all starts to come down around you.
