A repeat power outage in our area brought this message home to me a few weeks ago. I was left finding what can I cook on a match lite gas flame? How can I see around my home for a few hours (the flash light was lost). How will I entertain myself while I wait. And, I realized what a luxery running water is. Ours is powered by an electric pump so we didn't have that either for about 4 hours. Imagine no water, unless I went to the fresh water spring and no heat unless I carried in a load of firewood. No entertainment unless we got out a boardgame and God forbid interacted together. I know in this day of TV one and all that is unthinkable and did I mention reading? We do have books. Thank God I grew up with less of the niceties we have today. I pulled out the huicane lamps and read a book and put soup on --from scatch. It was a very relaxing day. :)

I'm interested in knowing how diet drinks "fatten you up." I thought that 0 calories in = 0 calories in. Please explain.

What an excellent article! Our family visited France this summer, and we loved European simplicity. In August businesses shut down in France so we spent quality time with 18 relatives. We lived in the countryside for two weeks and ate food from my uncle's garden. Family members helped prepare daily meals and were in attendance for dinner. It brought back fond memories of my childhood when we hung our clothes out to dry on the line. It was a great experience for my children as well. They took time to help me do chores instead of playing their DS. They also got plenty of exercise! The Europeans have not lost their family values.

If yu don't start these when yu are young, when you are older like me, you will be the ones mentioned in each item writen at the first, because you will be so unable to enjoy the life the way it should be injoyed, No way out. Do what the person says, it is true, we used to live like that when we were children, and we were so much more happy and healthy. Then as technology took over we became more sedetary, and less healthy.

That's great advice! I see that one of the biggest problems with individuals and families today is a lack of 'real' connection. We need to take the time with one another in more 'human interaction': Time for conversation and recreation with family and friends!

This really gives you something to think about and act upon. Life is too short to not take the time and "smell the roses".

Simplify...simplify...that is the way to go. Look at the animals around us, they sing, bark and dance with joy...perhaps thanking their maker. The commercials are false. They try to make you believe that their product, no matter how bad it is, is good for you. MONEY, money is what they are after. Think...think...people for yourselves. A friend

Savor the moment, relax and take care of the body God gave you. Instead of counting minutes let every minute count. Take time for yourself, family, and friends; time well spent.
