I thought this was a very informative article on weight manegment. I have struggled with weight all my life and I know from experience that the food journal is a great way to track your progress in any weight loss program. I get on the scale only one time a week and record it at the end of my first weeks journal entrie.

Food journals are very important to keep track of what you eat. You tend to pay attention to what it is you are comsuming when it is written down, you can see what foods are good and bad, you learn to take them out of the equation and adding in something with a higher nutritional value.

Here is my list and it has worked for me for years, its more comprehensive, and frankly, sorry Gabby, better!! 1. Food Journal - Agreed, it helps you be able to modify if you see the scale going up. You won't need this after a while. 2. Hot tea for dessert - now they have "diet teas" that are great (try Bonkers they are great), I do that. Think "cleansystem" before you go to bed. Tea and water help this happen. 3. Eat dinner early. Don't eat after 8 pm and put at least 3 hours between eating and going to bed. 4. Add fiber - everyday to your diet in the form of pills, mix, etc..doesn't matter, just do it. Remember to increase water with intake. 5. Lunch should be largest meal. But don't do fried or anything with all that much sugar, outstide of that, Anything will do. Don't eat a big meal at dinner. Make dinner appetizers and/or popcorn or tea at least 1 night/week. 6. Exercise, but moderately. Don't overdue or you'll want to eat more and its rare that anyone, outside of athletes can do this for a long period. My suggestion is to do something you enjoy, the gym will make you bored eventually. 7. Small bites. You feel full before the meal is done. Go to cut your food as you ussually do, but remind yourself to cut it half as small, then eat. Pause eating as many times as you can during a meal. Converse with the ones you love. Don't let the waiter make you hurry. 8. Plan at least 1 event during the weekend whereby it can qualify as exercise - tennis, longer walk with the dog, anything! Something the whole family would think is fun.... The above really works and isn't as crazy as what I keep hearing....enjoy! Let me know if you think its a good idea or better yet, that it helps. arly123@gmail.com

This sounds like a good idea, to keep a journal of everything that you eat, this way you will tend not to eat as much. Thanks for suggesting this idea

The blog was very helpful because to me a lot people try to keep a journal but they dont know where to start. I like point about knowing what kind of mood you are in when you eat something because a lot of the time i eat out of boredom. It is true you should always eat a well balance breakfast. When I was younger I would always skip breakfast when I waas in school and I found that throughout the day I would be more irritable and I couldnt focus on my work.
