Great writing and helpful thoughts, as always. There is no doubt our way of life is changing so rapidly that modern life IS stressful. (It's hard for me to imagine when my grandmother was a little girl, television didn't exist!) Now we are all stuck dealing with computer voices on the other end of the phone when trying to solve a problem with a credit card or plane ticket, etc. and sometimes being held hostage on the phone for hours. I'm finding myself waking up with puffy eyes lately and I usually have a headache and tiredness along with it. When this happens, I lose my energy to do my normal workout. I'm not sure what is causing it, but I believe it's food related, and I can't seem to find exactly which foods trigger it. There are certain foods I know for sure are triggers, a glass of wine for instance. But now even when I avoid the known triggers, it still is coming up, fairly frequently, and I have a pretty clean diet. It's driving me nuts.

I know that life is pretty crazy with everything that goes on but I personally think that television, computers, and cell phones take up way to much of our time. I see so many people waste hours watching TV. I understand that idea of wanting to relax but if you insist on watching that much TV then don't complain you didn't get your stuff done. Great Advice Gabby.

I've already done a lot on that list already. Don't know that it really makes too much of an impact for me.

I was thinking about that hurry bit. I seem to be rushing whether I am in a hurry or not! It is like leaving my car idling-no starting up or shutting down. I seem to be continually correcting mistakes and that causes stress through self-criticism. It seems like we have moral obligation to hurry. That would make a good cartoon-me under a heap of notes of tasks I have completed and I can't escape. The tasks own me. I used to work in a fast food restaurant and "hurry" was the name of the game. Also I went to college and worked too, more hurry hurry hurry! The real question is: Like WHEN may we enjoy the fruits of our labor? Do we even know how anymore? I don't think I do. And I bought lots of neat chairs???? I made big tadoo about buying a garden bench and painting it just the right color. I have sat on it at least 3 times. Who can sit with all those weeds! Maybe hurrying is form of avoidance of larger challenges. We are BUSY-leave us alone. :)

This is fantastic because I had a stressful day, what with being bombarded with a double standard in regards to race in this country, having to deal with the horrible tragedy at V-tech, the fact that no one in this country realizes that more people in a single day have been killed IRAQ then in an entire year in the US, with the fact that civil authority and now even in public institutions authority and leadership is terrible. That everyone who makes it out of the lower classes in this country feels bad and guilty and therefore over-compensates to nasty, ungrateful, entitled slobs of human beings, regardless of race, religion or ethnicity. Also, that due to the lack of courage by most of today's parents most children in this extremely rich country feel entitled and victimized by the littlest insult. That we have real issues like the massive limiting of civil liberties, the scary concept of pre-emptive dna samples if someone in our family was a felon, ridiculous tax burdens placed on the middle and lower middle class, outrageous balance of trade, federal and state deficits, worse and worse education standards, a huge gap between rich and poor, the rape of the senior citizen by greedy state, federal and private hmo, ppo and pharmaceutical companies, the fact that we consume 1/4 of all energy on the planet and emit almost 30% of the carbon yet our leadership has not declared a federal state of emergency and the ridiculous fuel alternatives still produce co2. Africa has ridiculous AIDS numbers as does India, the green war is creating very bad situations for most of the still rural subsistence farmers in the world, Famines, plagues and now escalating natural disasters due to global climatic shifts are threatening the entire earth's coastal regions which will result in the most massive migration of species in-land since the ice-age. The US dollar ain't worth the paper it is printed on yet everyone is consuming like they are Rockafeller. The Northeast US is under water and Al Queda is in the West Bank and Pakistan. Wow Fantastic!!! Yes, unplug, rewind and meditate, breathe in, breathe out. I hate TV and feel like I am re-living Toffler's Future Shock. I need Bora Bora or Elat or some quiet sandy beach with my woman, a drink with a pineapple umbrella and a Scandinavian Masseuse with man hands.
