Thank you for clarifying the best time to eat/exercise. I'm going to eat before I exercise first thing in the morning. Thanks!

always something light...like a cheesestick or a piece of fruit. I also have found, if the workout is in the evening, a cup of coffee beforehand helps to make you more lively.

This was a good article, but most of us everyday people would like to know the quantity of how much to eat before a work out, not just what to eat. For example today I had 3/4 cup of oatmeal with a 1/2 cup of milk with 1Tbles of sliced toated almonds, and 1tsp of ground flax seed. Is that to much food before a work out????????????????

Time frame before and after workouts is key. The best pre and post workout drink is milk or soy milk. Soy is better at least 30 min before and after.

Two things that I find are great to eat before a work out are: peanut butter and granola.
