I'm a Registered Dietitian, and besides the popcorn, this makes absolutely no sense.

It seems to me the M&Ms are actually better than the Junior Mints. Its interesting that they used half the pack of Junior Mints and the entire M&M. When the entire package is taken into account: There's 100 more calories in the entire package of Junior Mints than the M&Ms, only 1 less gram of sat fat, and 4 less grams of total fat. And it has TWICE the sugar. I'm more concerned with calories than fats, especially when the sat fats are basically a wash. So I guess the package of M&Ms over the package of Junior Mints.

This is good advice, but honestly, the movies are the movies. Eat popcorn. Enjoy the experience. :-)

mmmm... trans fat buttered popcorn... Im going to have some tonight and the food police can kiss the x-large coke Im gonna wash it down with. Lighten up and have a little fun once in awhile. I always like the crappy, flavorless alternative they give you. Why not take some rice cakes to the movie with you instead!

After the swap-popcorn-for-pretzel suggestion, the article is pretty lame. Basically, he suggests eating smaller portions of similar candy to get the "eat this instead" option. Ounce for ounce, there's little difference between Twizzlers and Good & Plenty. Duh.

A movie theater pretzel has 0g fat? Not after they slather it in butter-like-substance. The real story is the monopoly the food stands have. Why not a decent bite while watching a movie? A nice slice of pizza, nachos that aren't cardboard, a hoagie? Maybe for less than $9, too?
