I got as far as the fourth line characterization of spinach as "the iron-packed veggie" and realized I was reading the work of Yet-Another-Self-Proclaimed-Expert. If you got spinach wrong, why expect anything else to be right. Do more basic research before you pass on anecdotal 'expertise'. For example, with just a little basic googling past the other oft-repeated drivel, you can learn that: An 1870 German nutrient study's results included a misplaced decimal point that indicated spinach to have 10 times more iron than is correct. Although the error was reported as early as 1937, the early publication continued as the primary reference for nutrients and the error was propagated to most nutritional references well into the late 1900's. While most people and even many self-proclaimed nutrition 'experts' still labor under the Popeye misconception of spinach as an 'iron-packed' food, iron in spinach is similar to that of other green leafy vegetables In addition, the iron in spinach is of the non-heme type, which is less well used by the body. Finally, spinach also contains inhibitors (oxalic acid?) which can bind with and dramatically reduce the absorption of what iron is available. To get the most iron out of spinach, boil and drain it and add lemon juice and eat it with foods that have the heme type of iron, such as meat, poultry, and fish or with foods rich in vitamin C. Meat, poultry, and fish are among the best sources of iron for the body. Excellent vegetable sources of iron (non-heme) include cooked beans and 'enriched' breakfast cereals.

I think this is a good list. As a swimmer, my muscles are being worked daily and I need the carbs for energy. Jelly may have sugar in it but you're not supposed to eat a whole bunch in one sitting. That's why people have a problem with their weight is because they eat too much of something and then they blame it on the food itself. It has nothing to do with the food, it's about how much of it you eat.
