The article states that guinoa is a better alternative to your traditional oatmeal. I disagree. Oatmeal is also 100% whole grain, has 150 calories per serving, 3 g fat, 5 g protein, and 4 g fiber. Oatmeal is equivalent to guinoa. However, both are superior to the typical boxed processed cereal that most people eat for breakfast.

The Mayo Clinic Diet(or so called) consists of veggies- lots of them, lean protein- as much as you want, and no starches(carbs). A grapefruit or juice of one must follow each meal. You must also have regular excercise with any diet or else you're just spinning your wheels. On the Mayo Clinic Diet, I lost 40 lbs. in 4 months and had so much energy, but I was a letter carrier then and walked approx. 15 miles daily. Got sick( Hepatitis C from a blood transfusion), got off the diet and gained it all back. Four yrs. after chemotherapy and just starting to feel normal again- don't know how cancer patients do it as I thought I'd die.

That photo of the QUINOA - you can tell that's no 1/4 of a cup - it's more like a WHOLE cup. If you're going to put the serving amount on the - caleries etc - show the right serving.

I purchased your little book Eat This Not That at elementary school this spring. I confess I have not read it but at least I know where it is. I am laid up at the present time, I need knee surgery on my left knee. I am too fat but I have been lucky I had the right one fixed in 2003 and the left one was not good then. I chose not to have them both fixed at the same time. Where can I buy kefir, and quinoa? My e-mail is jpsanderson1@verizon.net. I am only 5'1'' and weigh 200 lbs. so I need to lose weight before I have the surgery. Thanks, Patsy Sanderson

Please be sure to tell people on certain medications eating grapefruit can destroy the effects of the medication. There are interactions!!!! You are setting yourself up for a lawsuit if someone starts eating grapefruit and becomes ill due to your advice

Women who retain extra water during their period can deflate that belly with fruit. Berries and honeydew melon to be exact, not the high calories fruits: watermelon, apples and bananas. For more great tips- go to SupermarketRxs@typepad.com.!
