Sodium can be responsible for high blood pressure in a lot of people. Something a lot of people don't realize they have until it's too late. Even though your alternatives suck, it's good you brought attention to how people shouldn't just be counting calories and grams of fat. There's lots of other things to concern yourself.

Another douche bag article. Is it really surprsing to anyone that fast food and chain restaurants probably aren't the healthiest choice? Why not suggest going to a neighborhood restaurant in your area where the chef is likely the owner and happy and willing to cook you whatever you want. Support your local economy, not the "fat cat" corporations.

Wow, all you people slamming this article are idiots. This kind of information is very valuable for people who are trying to be healthy. I myself have high blood pressure and I'm trying to reduce the amount of sodium in my diet. I suppose if you just want to eat whatever without any consideration for your health, that's your choice. Don't read these articles. Enjoy your diabetes, kidney disease, and heart attack. The amount of sodium in the foods he's mentioning is pretty outrageous and I for one am happy to have this information.

What about the 75% of the population that isn't salt sensitive and have no ill effects from the sodium content of food? Seems like some biscuits and gravy is a fine meal for most people.

Actually this book is informative for people who want to know what they are eating. I found this article helpful because I am following a low sodium diet for health reasons. The author isn't trying to dictate, just offer healthier options. :)

The books this guy is hawking is equally bad nutritional advice. The one geared for parents to feed their kids recommends Spaghetti Os over Mac and cheese?!?! they are BOTH nutritionally VOID processed crap, why dont you suggest parents actually take the time to prepare a meal for their kids once in a while instead of popping open a can or box and stuffing it in the microwave! Crappy advice you schmuck!

If people aren't complaining about how they don't mention salt (keeping in mind a salt-FREE diet is stupid since you need salt..try salt reduced), they are complaining about how they don't eat beef so the alternatives suck. This is just to alert people of foods they may eat that they don't realize or don't want to realize how bad they are. If you don't like this guy, then stop reading his articles. He's waaaaaaay better than Hungry Girl's articles that try to make disgusting foods sound good.

Also, to tigereye1008, some parents don't have time to make their kids a 100% from scratch meal. You sound like a stay-at-home (eg. worthless in the real world) mom.
