It would be great if you would stop recommending COMPLETELY OPPOSITE options for people. I don't eat beef. I only eat chicken. Therefore a sirloin steak isn't something I'm really going to consider as a replacement for chicken fajitas.

Can you find "real food" to eat instead of asparagus? It seems like every time you write one of these up, the "Eat This Instead" portion is always ridiculous. When it comes to sodium, if you are going to eat out, you are going to go over the daily requirement no matter what you do. Go ahead and argue with me that that's not true, but even YOUR recommendations still have over 700mg of sodium, and that's for a small portion of a single meal.

hey you know what thank you for pointing it out to us but we prefer to eat what we damn well please and no stinking food nazi critics are going to tell us what we can and cannot eat so stay in your own back yard write your books and leave it at that as someone might take your soapbox away.

This blog made me hungry. I'm rolling to get some bis and gravy and I might get a side of processed sausage with extra salt. I've been eating this way for 37 years and I'm as fit as an OX. I'll arm-wrestle you any day, David - you look all pale and scrawny. Better eat some b and g.

Maybe just limit the number of these salty items eaten over a given period instead of eating nothing but his so-called alternatives. Moderation guys.

this is a great article. I love the "sodium equivalent" comparisons, they're hilarious. 23 cans of pringles? dam! Thanks for the article. I always enjoy them.

Way back when there use to be a SALT meter any one could buy so when you ate in resturants you could stick the meter in your food and get a reading. Do you know if they are still available. I don't get to eat out hardly at all because of my BP I manage to keep it down eating at home but get so tired of cooking.

How about this: if you "can't eat this" and "can't eat that" and "have a special diet" = JUST STAY HOME! The only thing the Food Police allow as safe is an ice cube dinner washed down with a glass of water! I COULDN'T CARE LESS about Calories, Salt, etc. I eat what I want in moderation and balance it with exercise. When the Govt. starts telling me what I can or can't eat - it would be an obama-nation.

Another crappy article recommending nearly as crappy alternatives. This country is awash with bad nutritional information, starting right here. Boo!
