I'm no expert, but the salt they're using is not organic or natural sea salt, it is sodium or sodium chloride aka salt and according to Webster's Dictionary, that means it is an alkaline, metallic chemical element. So in my opinion, it taste good going down, but it is still in fact a chemical and those amounts are definitely not good for our bodies.

Thank you so much for the article. I just came home from the hospital yesterday and my Dr. had discussed salt intake with me. As I have minor heart & lung problems, (age 68) and he wants me to watch my salt intake. This article was an eye opener about they are slipping it to us consumers. Thanks again, Don

Loved this blog. Salt is killing us and all the restaurants know it...they think it comes under the 'crispier, crunchier' label.

Even though I am aware that there is too much salt in many items, nevertheless I am flabbergasted by these amounts! And I thought Lean Cuisine had too much sodium Thanks, and "Please, sir, may I have some more?" (Dickens)

Salt is what got me a heart transplant last year.If you ever read the label on a Campell's soup can it will open your eyes to what process food manufactures are doing to us and that does not count the preseratives that they add.

+ The saltiest food I have ever eaten in a restaurant (tastewise) is the Arby's roast beef sandwich. It is salty to begin with and then they ask if you want them to shake on their "special seasoning". Yuck.

Obviously we're better off eating at home, but it would be great to see a list of restaurants and menu items that we CAN have (at least occasionally) without destroying our health or having a major guilt trip!
