Aspartame is an addictive excitoneurotoxic carcinogenic drug that interacts with virtually all drugs because of damage to the mitochondria. It makes you crave carbohydrates so you gain weight. It's a chemical poison and you can't drink one diet soda a day. The free methyl alcohol converts to formaldehyde and embalms living tissue as the Trocho Study has shown. "If you want to get fat NutraSweet is where its at." Also the Ramazzini Study shows aspartame is a multipotential carcinogen. I notice this is on men's health. One might consider that aspartame damages the hypothalmus and triggers male sexual dysfunction. Aspartame should be immediately banned. There is a 1000 page medical text on it called Aspartame Disease: An Ignored Epidemic by H. J. Roberts, M.D., www.sunsentpress.com Furthermore, the movie Sweet Misery: A Poisoned World, www.soundandfury.tv explains how Don Rumsfeld got it on the market after the FDA had revoked the petition for approval. Dr. Betty Martini, D.Hum, Founder Mission Possible International www.mpwhi.com, www.dorway.com and www.wnho.net Aspartame Toxicity Center, www.holisticmed.com/aspartame Aspartame Information List, www.mpwhi.com scroll down to banners

Mmm... people are stupid. I have a theory which is... if diet coke helps you lose weight/keep off weight- drink it. If it doesn't... find something else! I lost 10 lbs when I switched from regular to diet, but I won't advocate it as the only thing to drink... I must drink just as much milk everyday as diet soda. But now I can't stand the taste of the regular stuff _ Disgusting.

These are the same scare tactics (tumors in rats) that forced saccharin off the market for years, only to see it approved again. What about Splenda and other new sweetners? Notice the code words used in the article: "emerging research suggests." That means there is no hard evidence, but the authors want to leap to a negative conclusion anyway.

check the ph. It is about 2.5 and our bodies need to be above 7. When we consume acidic foods and drinks our bodies fight to stay above 7, or alkaline, and our bodies will actually store the acid as fat. Many of our diseases are caused by our acidic lifestyles. Do a search on body ph.

You gotta love such blatant scare tactics! You can not tell me that anyone drinking several cans of soda a day would not be better off if the soda was diet. And I love this extemely vague, non-specific advice, "The best way to hydrate is by drinking low-calorie, high-nutrient fluids." Oh yeah - like what?

Those statements are misleading at the very least. I started drinking diet soda as a way to stop drinking full calorie soda and I lost weight. To imply diet soda makes you crave other sugary foods is unfounded and untrue. Drinking diet soda also does not keep me from drinking other dirnks. This guy is really reaching here because he has nothing really to say on the subject that is real. I hope they didn't pay him for this article. Aspartame concerns are only for the truely paranoid and some poor lab rats that get injected with 5 lifetimes of the stuff..

Alcohol (liver fail) smoking (lung cancer) fast food (some other cancer) diet soda ( some other cancer or tumor) Chemical sweeterners are poison. Diet soda is fattening and very addictive. All the studies quoted are lies yes because they lie about the studies. They must make money they must have repeat customers, they are addictive. Don take your pills please all 5000 of them. Tassel they have done harm to you you just havent been diagnosed with them yet, you will. Corn syrup is bad just not as bad as the chemicals. A good substitute would be water. Dr. Betty I commend you. Wow being a Dr. and all I really commend your words. First L. Yes they are! And you need to know that the people putting the scare tactics out there care about what the chemical companys are doing to your health. They are the same people (oh yes they are) making the drugs to rememdy you health problems. money money money. It's not your health they care about.

I have friends that drink a lot of diet sodas, and they are all overweight, with one friend being close to 300 pounds. I have told them that they think they are doing themselves a favor by drinking the diet sodas, but they are not. The only time I drink "one" glass of soda (pop) is on a holiday, and the rest of the time I drink juice, skim milk, or water. My BMI is 23. I rest my case! :-)
