I think you are missing the mark here with this article sir. Your alternatives may be lower in calories or "sugar" but many of the so called "better" choices you listed are full of artificial sugar substitutes, or refined sugar, HFCS, etc...you failed to compare to many of the VERY healthy varieties of "granola" bars that do NOT have high fructose corn syrup or refined sugars and are extremely tasty. Sorry but I think the articles you have written leave MUCH to be desired and don't come even CLOSE to actually being helpful, the "IDEA" is right but your research is very limited.

in response to... 10. Posted by sweptaway on Tue, Oct 07, 2008, 11:43 am PDT I think it is bad to mix fruit with anything as it digests first and rots in the stomach waiting for the yogurt to digest, this causes gas, bloating and other digestive disorders. How does anything have time to "rot" in one's stomach??? Is it me or does this not make sense to anyone else?

It depends what kind of granola bars you eat. Kashi are good although they do not have many vitamins. Quaker may be better. Nature Valley bars are still ok. While they may have 10-15 mgs of sugar, other percentages are good. And, compared to other items, 15 mgs of sugar is not that terrible. Candy bars and other types of junk food have 22 to 35 mgs.

More attention should be paid to removing high fructose syrup from the American diet. It is really a challenge to shop in your supermarket and avoid the stuff.
