Silly article, napping is what you do when your old and have the time. Also deep REM sleep is most important, think of waking a baby or toddler after a short nap (they are usually not happy to be awake) Ben Franklin said : "To love life is to love time" (i.e. time management is important)

Come on, Your blog week after week presents a mixture of unsubstantiated nonsense, old wives tales and common sense. Where is the data from the Cochrane data base on cat naps and longevity ? You are like every other alternative medicine charlatan. Instead of evidence you tell people what you think might work.

Yes, this is very true every time that I'm tired I take the shortest nap and after that I feel like a new person. I even told my manager at the office to have a break room with some lounge chair to relax but they say that it would break the company policies but little do the know that by doing this it could improve productivity.

I found that taking a 20 min power nap (even if I never fell asleep) at work actually conditioned me to fall asleep faster at night.

I have to say, that if I close my eyes for 5 minutes, I usually wake up sleepier then I did before. I am the type of person who needs long naps to keep me going. And I have issues getting to sleep.

I think, power nap does help because I am a student and I only get 4-6 hours a day and I feel much better after nap.

I am a college student... and I get done with my classes every day at 12... and take a nap right after that... it is the best way for me to be well rested to do homework the rest of the afternoon... and of course party at night! :)

Very good article!! Sometimes I find myself taking brief naps and feeling very refreshed afterwards. It's interesting how I usually haven't on these occasions, needed to set an alarm clock to get me to wake up after 30 mins. It's as though the body has a wisdom of its own. (On the other hand, I have been known to carry an alarm clock w/ me if I'm napping during my lunchbreak at work, knowing that I wouldn't feel so relaxed & refreshed if were to oversleep beyond my lunch break.)

At last, I knew all along it was good for me, now if the rest of my co-workers would do this I wouldn't get razzed so much!

Why give people advice they cannot follow. It only increases stress. Where do people who work in cubicles nap? The bathroom? Instead of telling us that our lives will be shorter for not following your advice, give us ways to increase our health in the environment in which we exist.

Great article on Nap, in particular for software engineers like me, where we work a lot for nothing ...
