Something the Dr. did not mention: if you have recently experienced a fall, blow to the head, car accident, etc. and develop a bad headache or experience chronic headaches, seek medical attention immediately! Such symptoms due to spinal comun or head trauma can take some time to develop (days, or even months). Having suffered from chronic tension headaches, I have tried many ways, including many of the above, to address it. The one thing I found helped the most was chiropracty. More recently, x-rays revealed that my first cervical vertebra was slightly canted. A course of therapy focused on C2 has resolved the pain in my neck and my headaches. Having been in pain daily for almost a year, it is wonderful to be pain free again! I highly recommend seeing a chiropractor for chronic neck and/or headpain, especially if you have had a fall or hit your head at some time.

I am a man being 80 years old in April 9,2008.I have had a heavy bad head ache over 2 years. I take a Nescafe Taster's Choice coffee, by a strong amount, using a half size spoon foul of coffee putting it in to a nice cup, I add two Darjeeling Tea items into the black, hot water, coffee, for 10 minutes, than I drink it. Every 10 hours, it takes away the headache, I drink it at about 10 thirty in the evening and about 9 to 10 in the morning. I also take two aspirins, 500 each. When I rune out or for someother reason not to take it, in an hour or two I GET A VERY HEAVY HEAD ACHE. What do you think of it. I just think I had a small but bad health problem. I have been having problems of remembering names of friends and reading a book and forgeting the chapters, stupid handling of my mind. Please let me know your concern by emailing me at harihartuv@yahoo.com Thanks, Hari Har-Tuv

harihartuv, go back and read Dr. Mao's article - note what he has to say about caffeine especially. Coffee and tea both have caffeine, so you are giving yourself a good dose of it twice a day. You may be experiencing caffeine-withdrawl headaches. As to your memory, that may be related to your age, and exercising your mind can help: crosswords puzzles, logic problems and such. In any case, you should talk to your doctor about these things, in case there is an underlying issue.

What helps take away the pain of a headache from a seizure naturally besides sleeping all day?

5 - unsatisfied, I assume you mean epileptic seizures? I know they can burn up a lot of energy and blood sugar levels can be low as a result. Low blood sugar can cause headaches, so try eating something high-carb/high-glucose. Lavender oil rubbed on your temples, brow and at the base of the skull may help. I would suggest talking to your doctor about it too - the more you understand about your specific seizure type and pattern, and what is happening afterward, the better you can deal with these things. Good luck!

I got in a bad habit in college of eating all the wrong foods. Well it has bled into my (older) adult life and it's time to change some things. My husband and I talked about it and decided it was time to do something about it. We have spoken with our doctor and got the green light to start a healthy regimen. We are so happy and slowly my headaches are going away. Thanks so much!

it would be good to add the fact of artificial sugar too. I have minimized white sugar and cookies and pies, instad I get bananas, dates and sweet berries , even dry sweet fruit works .

For migraines that are so bad I throw up, I try and get down a Promethazine 25mg tablet. After that is down for about 5 minutes, I take an Imitrex and lay down. I do switch between Imitrex, Relpax and Zomig just so I don't get a rebound migraine. When I took high doses of caffeine, I had a migraine and was very jumpy, it doesn't work for me.
