great longevity tips as usual, Dr. Mao! always look forward to reading your blog. you give out the best advice. i will miss responding here for awhile. i can't seem to stay awake for long anymore. the computer drains what little energy i have left and i don't have a lot of energy to spare these days. until i'm feeling stronger, i'll probably be reading mostly from books. thanks for being such a great inspiration dr. mao. i'll miss your blog most of all. ricecake

These are excellent, practical suggestions to incorporate exercise into busy lives. The gym helps because we join with others to exercise. Instead of plopping on the couch for inane TV, we can be with friends at the gym. But if TV is a must, we can just pick up dumbbells or utilize a fitball to get some exercise right there. Exercise can become part of a habit and routine. Then it is most likely to take hold and work its wonders.

I agree. Just doing some basic calisthenics, tai chi, pilates, or yoga moves to your favorite tv show is much better than sitting there like tree stump if haven't exercised all day. Not having gym equipment in your home isn't even a reason to not exercise. I'm sure most people have a dvd player in their home, if not a computer, and a few dollars they can spare to find an exercise dvd that interests them. It's the lack of determination and discipline many people are missing to exercise, not the time. If you force yourself to exercise even when you're tired, you'll feel better about it that you did it. It's a matter of priorities.
