Being that I am an old(er) mother I am finding that I much more observe my infant than I did last time I had one 20 yrs ago. What interests me is that I've realized that babies like us to, ever so slightly, scare them. For instance Peek a boo or when I pretend to be a growling dog devouring my baby's belly he exhibits tension (apprehension) and then roars with laughter. The kind of belly laughing only a baby can make. At that moment of apprehension he must be feeling stress no matter how slight. It makes me wonder if stress might not be such a bad thing, after all?

I thought going half and half with the caffeine was sufficient but maybe it isn't. Maybe I'll try cutting out more caffeine and see if that helps make a difference. I've been under a lot of stress lately. Maybe drinking less of it might help. There's nothing I can do to lighten my schedule but I can at least try to cut the caffeine out more. Thanks for this article Dr. Mao. Needed to see it.

I believe that there is no way anyone can live and be "Stress free", but I believe that anyone can try to relieve most of their stress levels. Mao you are doing a great job posting these blogs, but please understand that all of our bodies stress to cope with even the slightest amount of change: teperature changes, emotions, any disturbances to any of the five senses, psychological disturbances... You Provide your audience with many great tips, and I follow all of the tips except for the caffine tip you provide me. I need caffine because I try to drink my lightly sugared orange peoke tea every sunday. I usually meditate everyday, because I have a heavy school schedule. You fail to mention that anaerobic and aerobic exercises combined with sunlight dramatically relieves stress. All stress is not bad so please tell your audience that similar to bacteria, they will never get rid of stress, but only control the "good" and "bad" stresses of life. This blog did make me think more about relieving stress, and I will end today with the tips that you delivered me. Contact me at: Tgiiif_2000@yahoo.com

I can't operate on less caffeine than that. If I get any lower than what I do with caffeine, I may as well be drinking pepsi. I'm trying to watch everything I consume, but the one thing I can't surrender is caffeine. The headaches are too much to try to fight when you try to work. Same with the drowsiness. Now is not the time to try to withdraw. What was I thinking?

Here are some of the sinple stress busters I'd like to share with you guys. I hope this helps...l) PUT THINGS BACK WHERE YOU FOUND THEM - how stressful it is to be looking for missing things like car keys, documents, bills, receipts, a pair of scissors, so avoid stress by making sure you put things back in its right place. And label, label! 2) LET GO OF THE PAST - don't reheat yesterday's mistakes for breakfast. 3) TAKE THINGS ONE PIECE AT A TIME, ONE DAY AT A TIME..because the big picture can be overwhelming. 4) BREATH IN, BREATH OUT 5) SING IN THE SHOWER, SING IN THE CAR. 6) Hop into the tub or have a long warm shower or a cold one during hot summer nights. 7) DELEGATE, DELEGATE, DELEGATE - just remember not to abdicate when you do so. 8) JUST SAY "NO" - you can't please everyone and sometimes turning down someone won't be a big letdown to that person as you think it is. 9) ACT LIKE A KID - there are some people who find coloring a book therapeutic. 10) And when all else fails, shrug it off - literally and figuratively. HAVE A BLESSED AND STRESSLESS DAY EVERYONE!!!

I will attest that yoga and meditation are key to relieving stress. I have to admit to being guilty of not giving up the caffeine, but do know that if I did give it up I would feel much better on my frustrating commute to work every morning. I quit once for 2 years, and can't figure out why I started again. Thanks Dr. Mao for the great tips! Kim at: http://www.peaceful-organic-planet.com

I gave up caffeine (soda, coffee, tea, and cocoa) 6 years ago and I feel great! I wake up to a 1.2 mile hike instead of a starbucks. I have energy all day and get a wonderful 8 hours of sleep each night. My life isn't completely stress free, but very close to it. I also gave up watching tv over 2 months ago. I didn't know what I'd do without "my shows" but I can honestly say that my life is much better. I don't worry about leaving the house and missing something good on tv. Anyone can do it. It's the little things in life

Great tips. I know first hand that following the mentioned advice definitely transforms your life. They're simple, but are also simple not to do. Take the time to implement and see the difference they make in your life! Thank you Dr. Mao for the information. This wisdom is truly life altering.

Wow -- this was great information. Some of my (bad) habits will be difficult to change, like coffee in the morning, but I can work on it and get as close as possible -- without causing me more stress. When I have been stress-free, I have been happier and felt healthier all the way round. So have other people in my life :)
