Cleaning with commercial cleaners is like cleaning with poison? I think that is a rather broad comment and might very well be slander (or liable I confuse the two). Some commercial cleaners are baking soda, but it is true that the does makes the poison. Even water can kill you. That being said, I would not really consider the healthy alternatives listed above all that hot either. For instance the EPA considers boric acid as a moderate toxin due to the acute effects including oral and dermal toxicity, and eye and skin irritation. EPA’s reregistration document states that a subchronic borax feeding study using dogs resulted in blood and metabolism disorders as well as effects to the testes, endocrine system, brain weight, and size ratios among various organs and glands. Microwaves are indeed a form radiation, as are visible light (which is also made of superfast particles called photons), infrared light, as well as cell phone TV and radio signals. None of these types of radiation are energetic enough to ionize DNA or proteins. Only things equal to or more energetic that UV light are dangerous in the way that most people think of radiation being dangerous. Incidentally, cooking things in a frying pan also denatures "essential proteins". That is why eggs and meat change color and texture when you cook them. I have no particular knowledge concerning the other claims but would view them skeptically based on what came before.

i'm a little confused - first the article states, "When you are facing a stovetop with a buildup of baked-on grease, don’t turn to commercial oven and stovetop cleaners - that is like cleaning with poison. ...try spraying this mixture on: mix dishwashing liquid, borax, and warm water ..." borax is basically boric acid, a key ingredient in some bug sprays. it is poison. so isn't this method simply trading one "poison" for another?

its really sad to see all these things one must do in order to live a healty life. it seems like our goverment really could care less about the citizens in this country and are more interested in money. Stay away from microwaves and canned food dont use cleaning products to clean, watch for cooking pans and pots that cause cancer, i mean if i didnt know any better it really seems like no one is really looking for the interest of the people in this country. We are doomed in our ignorance and greed and wealth are the motivation behind our destruction.

Another way to cut down on the aluminum entering the body is to switch to an aluminum-free deodorant. This can be found at many stores, including Target and Wal-Mart. Tom's is one of the brands that is made without aluminum. If that doesn't work for you, there are many others found at all health food stores, including Henry's, Whole Foods, and others.

Thank you Dr. Maoshing Ni. It is refreshing to read your article and know that I am not alone when I tell others how their dishwasher detergent leaves bleach and ammonia residue on their dishes after the rinse cycle. How they are eating that residue when they put hot food on the plate and reheat the chemical into their food. Sadly enough people are not ready to believe all of what is a fact! There are so many poisonous chemicals in "ALL" of their household products from toothpaste, mouthwash, body soap, shampoo, deodorant, shaving cream, lotion, not to mention "ALL" of the cleaning and laundry products. They just do not understand how they are inhaling, absorbing and ingesting these chemicals every single day. It's a known fact that the percent of asthma, allergies, eczema, psoriasis, arthritis, fybromyalgia, ADD/ADHD and a variety of chronic illnesses have all skyrocketed since the chemical revolution in 1950. We have more cancer in children and adults today then before 1950. Dr. Maoshing Ni, could it be possible that we don’t truly inherit chronic sicknesses from our relatives, but what we do inherit is their bad habits to purchase the same name brand “toxic-chemically” saturated household products they did or cook the same unhealthy dishes that in turn made us inherit the same chronic illnesses like cancer, high blood pressure, heart disease, or high cholesterol? All I do know is that my Nana who came from Naples, Italy only cooked from her own garden and cleaned with baking soda and vinegar. She lived to the ripe old age of 92 and died “naturally” of old age! Need I say more? Thank you again. pstandeford

I really like this info, so many comments of people who like to complain about healthy tips, obviously there are a lot of people too lazy to take good care of themselves. I personally don't use plastics for eating or storing my food and don't use a microwave. I use glass or stainless steel to drink out of for my children instead of the plastic sippy cups. Read the Natural Cures by Kevin Trudeau, highly recommended and you will be shocked! Wake up people and stop being blinded by the retailers that everything you buy is safe for you, start doing research and find out and verify for yourself that what Dr Mao is telling you could actually be true!! Walmart and all those other big stores are only out to get your money!! start shopping local, and buying organic and watch your health improve!!!! Quit complaining about every good tip that comes your way and be happy that someone is sharing it with you

Toms of Maine deoderant still has propylene glycol in it, why not try the crystal, it is the best one out there, or there is another great one made by Terressentials, check out the website, they have totally natural cleaning and products for you body, they say if you can't eat it don't put it on your body and if you can't recognize the ingredients then its probably a chemical. I use the products and I have no complaints.

Hello Dr. Mao: I agree with your suggestion to use cookware with porcelain enamel coating ...but I have not been able to find cookware made with porcelain enamel coating in department stores or even online. Most of them are non-stick, stainless steel or if it is enamel coated, it will be cast iron and those are just too heavy for me to use. Any suggestions as to where or what brands I can look for to get such porcelain enamel coated cookware that is not coated with Teflon or iron casted? Thank you.
