As a personal trainer I really am glad you are putting this info out there. One of this biggest fears woman have about resistance training in fear of becoming too muscular. While this is not going to happen with moderate exercise this fear needs to be addressed and the benefits of resistance training needs to be brought out more. so thanks you for your contribution.

while it is commendable to have doctors striving for a gimic to keep thier patient visit money coming in for as long as possible. i wonder if there is any real benefit for living longer, other then family greed to maintain thier relative or false vanity, " the old I don't want to die syndrome". i for one don't want to live any longer then i feel i am usefull to myself and provide 100% for myself, not the family nor society, and surely not to keep my doctors fees coming in as long as possible.

Dr Mao, Your comment about burning 3500 calories per week doesn't sound correct to me. I believe most of us consume or burn 1500 to 3000 calories per DAY. At least that is what I've read in several sources. Can you clarify that number please? Thank you,

The problem I have with people like Dr. Mao is that in there articles they do not give solution. Buy my book is their theme and every guru has a different idea. So you cannot be sure who is correct. He really does not care if he is right or wrong if his book sells. When I visit China the older people do a lot of Tai Chi and they dance a lot neither one of these activities raise the pulse rate to the levels he advocate. How ever asian people in both America and China advocate these slower forms of excersise, becaue they do not strain the joints. So I ask once again who is right
