Thanks for the tips Dr. Mao. I am going to start eating oats for breakfast. I have quite a ritual I do in the morning. I like to wake real early so I don't feel rushed going to work. I get up 3 hours before it is time to go to work. I do a sound meditation, activate my Reiki symbols, hang upside down for a while, and go for a couple mile walk. I'll add your advice too, thanks!

yes, you are so right about eating a healthy breakfast and easing into the day more gently. i don't always do that. i have to improve on that. when i take the time, i do well. when i'm rushed, i just grab the nearest thing to eat and run out the door. even a cold cereal with berries would be better than the things i opt for when i get rushed.

Well, I wake up at 4 AM to pray, after 30 mins. take a cold shower. Thanks Dr. Mao, now, I know that I should massage my scalp first before taking a shower. The sudden jolt of the cold water on my scalp would surely have negative effect on my veins. I've heard it before from the old people but I just did not heed it. Since breakfast is the most important meal of the day, I see to it that my famiy, especially my kids eat heavy breakfast (to keep them going) before they go school. We eat rice with viand, drink milk?chocolate and have a slice of mango or a banana.

Thanks for the valuable information about raw oats. do "white oats" or "Quaker oats" have the same benefits. I'll appreciate advice.

Does anyone have any advice about how to cook the oats? Also, I'm guessing that whole oats are different than "steel cut"? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

#5... Quaker Oats is oatmeal and has all the benefits of oatmeal.. just be sure to get the "whole oats" as he is talking about because there are different "grades" of oatmeal. Quick Oats is whole oatmeal that is "steel cut" to give it a lighter consistency and cook faster. (I prefer the Quick Oats to the Whole Oats, myself... Instant oatmeal has the least benefits.... I never heard of white oats...maybe someone else has. Is it a brand name???

#6... It does take longer for the Whole Oats to cook and probably uses more water. I would check the instructions on a Quaker Oats Whole Oats box and use that. I often buy grains from the health food store (cheaper and better!!) but they are bulk and have no cooking instructions on them so I steal the instructions from the brand name boxes.

#5 and #6... I like the consistency of Steel Cut Oats but they do lose "some" of their healthful bran (as the Dr. says), because some bran falls out when the oat is cut... so what I do is buy "oat bran" at the health food store and add about a teaspoonful to my oatmeal. With 1/2 teaspoon of oat bran you get over 10 times the amount of bran you would get in whole oats!!!! (that's a lot!!) and oat bran can be used in many things... you can add it to any kind of cereal (the kids won't even know it's there!!) and sprinkle it into some sauces, use it in baking. etc. A small bag goes a long way and it is cheap and good for you... but it's very concentrated so be careful at first and don't use too much because it is a fiber and can cause gas until your body becomes used to it. Start out by just sprinkling it on foods then after a week or two you can use up to a Tablespoon each serving if you wish.

When one eats oats for breakfast, it feels good and the desire to eat more in the next several hours is gone. It is a very filling natural way to begin the day.
