Eh smoking it isn't great for you but it doesn't cause cancer like tobacco does. That's why you just eat a brownie or vaporize

I am concerned that there are no measurements mentioned here ... how much of these herbs must I consume in order to benefit from the healing effects? Any chance of overdose, if using supplements? Must the herbs be fresh/raw? What happens to their effectiveness when cooked? Will the effects diminish if combined with other foods (acidic/alkaline)? I find this to be a very superficial article, and ultimately useless.

The problem with Marijuana is that it is very much like Western drugs: it covers and treats the symptoms, but doesn't address the root of the problem. Moreover, since the most common administration of marijuana as a drug is smoking, it puts you at risk of lung cancer. The herbs Dr. Mao mentions, along with many other herbs used in Traditional Chinese Medicine, don't only alleviate the symptoms, but they also treat the root cause. For example, if you can't sleep because you are stressed, marijuana will help you sleep. But it will also alter your consciousness, you may feel very tired in the morning, you may get into trouble if you work at a place that does drug testing, and in the long run, it just adds to the problem because it further congests the liver, which is the energy mostly harmed by and mostly responsible for stress. Chinese herbs, on the other hand, will help you de-stress and sleep while actually relaxing and nourishing the liver, hence reducing the effects of stress on your body.

Quack, quack, quack. 'Cooling the liver'? 'Immunity-Enhancing'? As an individual with a deep love of science and medicine, this sort of foolishness makes me cringe, to say nothing of the proof provided - vague references to 'ancient Chinese wisdom' which, as usual, ignore the fact that the ancient Chinese, like most in that era, lived filthy, unpleasant, and (much) shorter lives. Why such individuals would have secret healing methods which can't be pinned down by the scientific method (or common sense) is never addressed by those pushing the aforementioned methods. At the end of the day, however, I'm just disappointed in Yahoo for hosting this gibberish.

Cannabis should be at the top of any list of healing herbs.
