It's important to allow yourself time to do this. If you have a hectic week coming up, it's not the right time to detox. Your energy levels will shift and you need to have the time and space to accomodate this. A vacation week is a good time. Or a long weekend, if you are doing a short detox. Be good to yourself, no pressure.... "I have to detox NOW".... be gentle with yourself.

Actually this sounds pretty good and easy to follow, for both inner and outer health. Would you rather be spending hundreds of bucks in a cleansing program in which you drink 2 pills in the morning, 2 before a meal, 2 after a meal, 2 before bed, a whole bunch of disgusting powdered drinks, etc. etc.? You forget to drink one and it messes up your whole system. And no one likes to see fluorescent green pee, either! Ewww. I'm trying this when I get the chance. Thanks Dr. Mao! Yours Truly, Tree-Hugging Hippy

Detox your skin from the outside while you're at it...start using all natural products that are better for the environment. plainjaneskincare.com is great for soaps, shea butter, and facial products.

Overall it's actually good, middle-of-the-road advice--he's just saying eat a healthy diet that emphasizes green, leafy vegetables. There's nothing weird or new about that message. The idea of "detoxing" will sound foreign to some, but like the poster Vegetable Lasagna points out, that is exactly what the kidneys and liver do; Dr. Mao and other healers have been suggesting for a long time that we take things a step further and provide our kidneys and liver a way to release all the pollutants they store. No need to make weird broths or drink teas if you don't like them. Just eat as many organic green veggies as possible, use meat as a condiment (just for flavor), only eat till you're full and exercise every day. It's surprisingly easy to stay healthy--you don't need anyone's expensive supplements to do this.

"You know you're suffering from toxic overload if you are experiencing fatigue, memory decline, difficulty focusing, allergies and infections, irritability, anxiety and depression, difficulty with weight gain and weight loss, muscle and joint pain or weakness..." These are all symptoms of thyroid disease, and probably some other serious health conditions. If you're experiencing ALL these symptoms, my personal recommendation is to see a doctor, and not deal with this detox crap. Not to say the supplements aren't good for you anyway...but seriously...not a cure for the above mentioned.

No, no, no. This is all nonsense. To "detox" is what dialysis is for; you only need it if your organs are FAILING or if you have been POISONED somehow. It literally means "detoxify", obviously, and "processed foods", a term that has no defined meaning, is not "toxic". It's food. It's out of your system within a day anyway. And really, everything has minute amounts of toxin; soy and apples contain cyanide. If you NEED detox, you'll know it; the symptoms are not these general symptoms that are also claimed to be caused by everything from multiple chemical sensitivity to a lack of magnetism, but results like shock, puking, and, y'know, dying. And if you don't believe me, just ask some logical questions; WHAT are you flushing out of your system, WHERE is it kept, etc. There are no real answers to these, just like there are no clinical trials showing they work.
