THANK GOD! Here's a health article relating to water that actually makes sense (unlike the 6-myths idiocy presented by MarieClaire!!). Sorry people: drinking two cups of coffee and two 16-oz sodas IS NOT the same thing as keeping yourself well-hydrated. Drink water... lotsa of filtered water--and not the junk that comes straight out of your city tap neither (unless you enjoy being poisoned). If you don't possess a good reverse-osmosis system in your house, you should look into it. Chances are using a good R.O. system will prevent years of future medical bills.

Great advice. I find it is very difficult to drink enough water, but I feel better if I make an effort. It is hard with 60 ounces of water being 1/2 of a gallon or 2 liters. My favorite water is plain old distilled which I buy in gallon milk jugs at the store for very cheaply.

Dr. Mao, you say "You should be drinking at least 60 ounces of water - about 8 glasses - a day. To develop a good water-drinking habit, get two large, rigid thermos bottles with a 20-ounce capacity and fill them with water. Take one along with you during the day to drink at work, and drink the other one at home." but if my math is correct... thats 40 oz. How do you suggest you get the other 20?

WOW, the fact that I maybe drinking fecal matter in my water makes me want to go out and buy that filtration system now!!! One can only hope that the water we drink is rid of those toxins and chemicals that he talk about???? I wonder how much of this is true? or is he trying to sell and make money on the filtration that he recomends??? also, everyday you hear that water is great for you, the next it's bad? what's next, don't eat food, it will kill you???

How much commission do you receive for selling these water filter products? It's really hard to get good non-biased info.

all lies and conspiracy to get you to buy more bottled water, gain more weight (overdrinking, like this 8 glass a day nonsense, actually makes you gain weight as 80% of fat is water). you only need to drink WATER when absolutely thirsty. The only water source for humans should be from eating fresh veggies and fruit, as only plants can ABSORB and transform water into a benefitial substance for us.

Thanks Dr Mao for your good work. My question is: I have been drinking about 3 big bottles of beer everyday for more than 9 year now. Does it have any side effect and what can i do to prevent damage to my organs.
