Two months ago, I weight 202 pounds. I should weight 155lbs for my height. Upon reading 'The Rave Diet,' I changed my eating habits. Over the last two months, I dropped all dairy products. I've went with Almond Milk [located in the non dairy section], and been very happy with that change. I've also stopped eating all processed packaged meats and also stopped eating all beef, pork and lamb. I'm eating fish and Wild Salmon heads the top of my fish eating list. I'm also eating more organic fruits and veggies and have really noticed the great taste difference. I could go on and on about the foods I'm current eating, but the point I wanted to get across is that as a direct result of my healthier eating changes, I've lost 20 pounds, and my Lipid Panel blood test have greatly improved. My cholesterol is way down, my HDL (the good fat) is up, and my LDL (the bad fat) is way down...and all of this was done with no additional exercise what so ever. Now, can you imagine how much more weight I'm going to lose when I start exercising? Well, gotta run...I hear my exercise bike calling.... ;)

None of this information is new. Health experts have been telling people to do all 5 of these lifestyle changes for years and people are still eating junk, sitting in front of their tvs complaining about how they work too hard as they make credit card payments for stuff they don't remember buying. People are generally too lazy to cook a nutritious meal from scratch, turn off their tvs and go for a walk, and do without some things in order to take a less stressful job. It is much easier to blame the government for high healthcare costs than to take responsibility for your own health and well-being.

Oh my, how disappointing....I unfortunately am falling victim to #1, 3, 4, and 5! No wonder I'm taking high blood pressure medicine! College life will do that to you :( This is a good article and I'm trying to change #1, 3, and 5. #4 will change once I graduate (I hope!). I'm incorporating a 'no fast food' rule, swimming a few laps in my neighborhood pool, and taking naps when I can squeeze them in. Hopefully these things will help me. Just to get off my meds and save that money every month will be nice :)

Just one question---what if you drink 1% milk and 2% cheese. Would dairy be ok then? My concern would be getting enough calcium if you cut the dairy out.........
