I have been excercising for over twenty years and I trained plenty of people from obese to extremely thin and can't see the benefit to a five minute work out even for starters. That's the point when your body is just staring to get warm

Dr Mao I appreciate your comments but the suggestion that people should exercise in a range of a 90-120 heartrate is medically unsound. Such a low rate of exercise is way way below the healthy ranges which will improve your cardio conditioning. Please do more research in this area before giving such advice. With all respect. Thank you.

Terrible information. This type of information may be good for someone with a medical condition or something. Most studies prove that intense workouts are better for burning fat and calories. Period. i don't think any of the great athletes around the world will tell you to keep your heart rate low while exercising.

Very enteresting, I agree with the slow, and take your time extercise, especially when you are older and have'nt extercise in a while, I say take your time and work your way up gradually. Please know that if you take good care of your body, then you body will take good care of you. If you find it hard to get started with your movement, then listen to some spiritual music and pray, please know that some movement is better than no movement. I really hope that my comment makes a differents in someones life out their. Love Sent All Over The World. Gin

I think the heart rates are way off! 90-120 is like nothing...if you want to stay in shape you should be able to get to 150 and hold that throughout a workout...but maybe im just above average!

I agree, and also disagree with many of the "facts" you state above. I especially disagree with your comments on the ideal exercise zone. 90 - 120 beats per minute might be a good workout for a 60 year old man, but a younger mans heart will beat that fast while walking. Now, I'm not saying walking isn't exercise, I'm simply saying you're going to get more out of your workout if you step it up a notch. I do agree that you can overwork yourself in an unhealthy way, but if you're not breathing heavily after a workout....you didn't work hard enough in my opinion.
