Why is it anytime there's something wonderful discovered about a natural substance it's never the garden variety ? It can't be just plan old garden variety muchrooms it has to be the rare and expensive exclusive type. Nice that you did say common beets have benifits. Kudos for the beets recommendation.

Jim he didnt say LOWER blood sugars but balance them and YES there are many herbs spices and veggies that help with that just an FYI...I have been a diabetic 29 yrs insulin dependant and he wasn't saying they cure anything just help with certain ailments so get yer head outta yer a$$ and read it correctly ;o) Another good blood sugar helper is burdock and sunchokes. Burdock is good for more than just glucose control though...the sunchokes like artichokes (both completely seperate plants btw) have an inulin content (not insulin) that DOES indeed help lower sugar levels you just have to be careful how much you consume or you can drop too low as I have found out from experience. You can find them in your fine food grocerers and sometimes at safeway and other food stores. they are a rhizome and can be eatten raw or sliced and stir fried etc.... Marie: a juicer is a machine you can use to make juice from any fruit or vegetable found just about anywhere that sells kitchen applicances, pretty cool thing to have as you can mix veggies n fruiots and hide the ones you dont like by adding in ones you do for bigger nutrient punch, like beets carrots and apples together make a good one and I hate beets lol...

Sounds like a wonderful recipe...pound for pound mushrooms are much healthier source of protein, Portabella, than meat.
