In regards to Breast Cancer at an early age. What are the recommendations for a female age 25 with a strong history of first degree relatives with Breast Cancer? If being in middle school and even high school is young for testing, shouldn't the 25 year old have a Mammogram? I am aware of the guidelines, which indicate 35 and older. Should this decision be individualized and at the discrepancy of the PCP? And sad situation for the ten year old, was it early stage? Thanks

My young cousin whom is also 13 y/o recently had surgery to remove mass in her breast and lcouple of weeks later learn she had an aggressive form of breast cancer that could have spread through the body if not addressed promptly. This is definitely scary for our family who were numbed by the fact that this could occur at such a young age. But I really wanted to comment on your response (how I interpreted your response) that there is no need for concern at this age that parents are observant and would know if something were wrong. After this incident with my cousin, I believe it's human nature for parents to become concerned and commend my young cousin for being comfortable enough with her body to have recognized an abnormality and bring it to her parent's attention and that they sought an immediate physician's appt. although the thought was it's probably nothing. The truth is when our girls and boys reach a certain point in puberty parents back off and allow them privacy and we should at this point be educating our kids about their bodies and leaving an open door for them to feel comfortable enough to bring areas of concern to their parent's attention and for the parents to act promptly to address their areas of concern.

my daughter is 11years old and she complains alot of her left breast and and feels something are thoes any signs of breast cancer ?
