I know you're probably thinking that I've gone completely around the bend because I've apparently forgotten that women don't have prostate glands. But here's what's interesting: There probably is a link, a family link.
Researchers have found that there seems to be an increased risk for breast cancer in what we call "first-degree female relatives" of men under age 55 who've been diagnosed with prostate cancer.
So if you have a brother or father who was diagnosed with prostate cancer before the age of 55, make your gynecologist and family doctor aware. You may need a breast cancer screening.
