Thank you for this imporatnt article. The points made are very good ones. I wish however, pregnant or not, that more focus in the industry would be put on self examinations by krypton bulb flashlight exam and Dona glove exam. These are far more accurate, revealing, trackable, safe, and inexpensive. If anything is detected or suspected, one could follow with a thermography exam. Thermography has shown to detect breast cancer up to ten years in advance of mammograms, is painless, and is safe. All of these exams are more accurate and detect changes many years in advance of mammograms. Mammograms damage dissue by crushing it, possibly rupturing an encapsulated tumor and flooding it with estrogen wich spurs the growth of most breast cancer. Mammograms are radioactive beams which causes cancer over time, especially with repeated exposure. Mammograms traumatize the patient causing a toxic hormonal shift that can stimulate cancer growth throughout the body, not just the breast. I personally feel that mammograms should never be used (especially on a regular basis) except as a last resort. Think how many lives could be saved, and think of the cost savings in insurance premiums and taxes. Save your breasts, save your pocketbook, and save the economy. That is called a win/win situation for everybody.

I recently had a mammogram and unfortunately was not told that I needed to have been done breastfeeding for at least a few weeks. Halfway through the mammogram the technician asked when did I stop breastfeeding, I told her about a week ago. She told me right away it is better to wait about six months after concluding breastfeeding before having a mammogram. How frustrating! She made sure to note my chart that it has only been one week since stopping breastfeeding. However the radiologist has called be back for a repeat mammogram and ultrasound even after seeing the notes. I don't want to be concerned, but with breast cancer on both sides of my family, it is hard not to be. Thank you for the great information very much!
