It was only yesterday I had my yearly mammogram done; and yes it was digital and the images right there on the screen. The technology is absolutely amazing.

I have very dense breast. For the last 3 years I have been getting digital mammography at the VA in Bay Pines Fl. I love it. The pressure doesn't seem to be as much as with regular mammograms. Plus I can see the images myself before I leave. I have seen all previous films since I was 35, so I know when something different shows up.

The digital mammogram is especially good for dense breasts, but the technologist still has to compress the breast. Some women don't understand that. The compression is very short and not that uncomfortable.

This article about digital mammograms was extremely helpful because the concept was entirely new to me. Now I am wondering if a digital mammogram would be covered by medical insurance to the same extent as a regular mammogram, or would it be more expensive? Anyone know the answer? Thanks again for the article.

Yes this is an excellent brief test and not nearly as uncomfortable as the old version. It is covered by insurance plans.
