I find this article helpful, and it is clear that nurse Shockney is a very well qualified professional. However, I can't help but wonder: in her picture, she looks to be 40 to 50 pounds overweight, and of an age where such excess weight presents particular dangers to good health. I have seen many persons in the US advocating for better health habits, who are considerably overweight. How credible is a person who does not follow her/his own advice? The ONLY way to become overweight is to consume excess amounts of sugars and saturated fats. During WWII in Europe, no one was overweight who wasn't collaborating with the nazis, and most cardiovascular ailments all but disappeared. The reason: very little to eat, and certainly no sugar or fat.

All the research points to increased levels of insulin depleting immune function....Wht don't these so called health practitioners just say it?...or is it that they either have some secret agenda or they are hooked on sweets....which by the way...is an addicition...No?...try eliminating white flour and all it's by products...soda...candy....harmful (healthy sweets..i.e.honey..stevia...rice syrup)..anything that raises the insuline levels and NEVER EVER allowing the pancreas and hormonal system to recover.....By the looks our commentator....she would never say eliminate all sweets.....just look at her.....it's all a joke.....

I believe that the writer is leaving out a very important cause: the fungus, yeast connection, fed not only by sugar, but by dieary substances than become sugar: grains, especially refined; and alcohol.

Ladies this is for information only . If you feel that you have room to talk, fine. But how do we know that those of you are putting this women down, that you are not setting on the chair eating the sweet treats. Those with out flaws cast the first dirt! The reason I log on here, is to read what is interesting to me. If you do not want to read what she has say. Take it off your Book Mark. There are many things that will cause or will not cause Cancer. Sugar was just one. Calling some one is a Joke! Shows just what kind of person they are. If you can not have any thing good to say, do not say any thing at all.

Why try to "kill the messenger"? She's trying to help us. I appreciate the information. Anything I can learn to do or not do to avoid a recurrence of my breast cancer I'm grateful for.

Some of these comments are mean spirted and NOT helpful. I am a 3-year breast cancer survivor and have found this web site to be the most helpful of any I have visited. I have been able to review excellent research as well as receive personal responses to my questions. Articles like this are extremely helpful when you are trying to do your best to live healthy and prevent recurrence and to pass helpful information on to our daughters. Keep up the good work, Lillie.
