I don't want to be defined by this disease, so would not opt for any specific term. Survivor is as good as any, but I do not dwell on my cancer experience. Last year, my cancer was caught very early, thank goodness. While going through treatment, my thoughts centered on finishing it so that we could return to New Orleans. The breast cancer is hopefully just a blip in my life. I have gained in contentment as much as I lost physically. Cancer was not the worst experience of my life. It helped to teach me gratitude--for life and being back in my wonderful city.

I'm a two-time breast cancer survivor. Yes, survivor. I survived the effects of radiation first time around. Survived beyond my 5-year mark, and then at year 6, survived surgery, drains, chemotherapy, hair loss, unbelievable fatigue, the whole nine yards. Yes, I am a breast cancer SURVIVOR!!! I like WARRIOR too!!!
