The line does not stop after you have had a Mastectomy. You need to self check as you did before you had Breast Cancer. I have a friend that had a Mastectomy of both Breasts. She checks each month to to make sure every things are all right. Thank you for posting this information. "We need to take care of each other.

That was a scary article for me, I have a tissue expander in, had a mastectomy 3 years ago. Planning on getting my implant in 3 months. How will I be able to feel anything with a implant? If a lump would be behind the implant?

Dear Survivor, Talk to your surgeon, but normally he should be putting the implant behind your pectorals- exactly for this reason. I am sure the doc can put your worries to rest so you can enjoy your new implants! -

Please, please, please continue to do self exams! My Aunt had a partial mastectomy and found a lump along the incision line. Her doctor told her for months that it was only scar tissue and not to worry. When she seen a surgon she had him look at it and he was concerned enough to do a biopsy. It was indeed cancer. They now think that it was cancer cells left behind from the mastectomy. If you feel that something isn't right tell someone, if they won't listen find someone who will. As for Britt_twin please go to the doctor if you have not already. Breast cancer can be successfully treated if caught early.
