Lilly, With respect to the advances in radiation therapy you kindly site in this article: Who you tryin to kid with statements like "Safer than ever"? Does that really honestly belong in the same line with "Radiation"? I am 54 and have heard for 40 years of the advances of radiation therapy... when later research found out is really isn't so safe. The problem or the "real" deal is that radiation in NEVER SAFE and never will be. It's a crude fix, though the best we may have presently for certain situations. Radiation therapy isn't safe... period. And the word safe can't really be used honestly or responsibly in descriping it. It's great that is has improved; and I would not shun it if needed. But it is not safe and never will be "safe." You are promoting a for profit service while posing as a "helper." This is my "beef" with the sad state of the corporate medical industry. It is a world that used to be populated with helpers, but now forces workers to be shills for the product lines. Or the group health company. What happened to authentic helpers who put the patient first? It almost can't be done. We have corporations that do not have active human consciences: they are required to make profit... that's it.They are not required to have a conscience if it compromises income. Their prime directive is NOT to help and assist, but to profit. So research and development is compromised in the direction of profit. Sure, a company wants to make an effective product to sell, but also the most profitable one. This value skews all product development. The medical industry had some restraint in promoting it wares years ago. But as big business has entered the picture, doctors are little more than front men for pharmaceutical companies, test and equipment manufacturers. Some are helped and others are harmed. I have had success with some modern medical treatments, and alternately almost killed by the incompetence of others at times. Your statement "radiation therapy: Safer than ever" though true, is absurd and a sad example of the dishonest efforts to promote an industry that has as many "kills" waiting for the patient as "cures." The word "safe" has no truly honest use in descriptions of radiation therapy, chemo therapy, or even seemingly benign applications of medicines. I am on many medicines, maybe 8. What a medicine fixes in one part of the body system, it sabotages in another. Modern medicines are crude fixes, as is radiation therapy, chemo and the large pharmaceuticals look first for profit... and last for a cure best for the patient. That's a really bad combination. We have people risking their lives for unnecessary elective surgeries that really should not be allowed under a hippocratic oath. We have patients who really have no understanding of the risks involved... death is one. But the risk is kept mum by doctors that think they are a "business" out to fatten the bottom line of their purse. A true helper, healer... in not a for profit business, but a "for patient" care provider. The medical world and the profit motive have combined to turn an ugly corner in the world of modern medical care. John Harrigan www.TheLessonsInLove.com. .

I had radiation four years ago. They had just started using CT scans to estimate the depth of the lesion to calculate the depth of the radiation. I had a very small sore under my breast and some redness for about two years, but no longterm injuries. I had no damage to my back or surrounding tissues. It really has come a long way. There really is no need to fear it anymore.

Straight out of the can, peanuts are one amazing health food. But you may get more antioxidants if you buy them in the shell and do this: boil 'em. Read More »
