I am not in the dental profession, however I do realize that they are recognized as "doctors", and although they are noted for focusing on teeth, I am certain they were trained to some degree on the rest of our bodies, as it relates to oral health. Otherwise, why would they want to know if we have heart problems such as murmur before even cleaning our teeth? And I am certain that they realize full well the effects of oral cancer on the "whole body". I actually was a hairstylist..and found melanoma on a clients scalp (no, I was not sure, however it was confirmed by a doc). Although I could not take care of her, I certainly tried to be supportive of her, and eventually of the family she left behind when she succumbed. I don't believe we should knock ANY means of early detection. I am alive today because of it.
