Hemorrhoids are a very common problem. Equal numbers of men and women get hemorrhoids.

Hemorrhoids can develop at any age, but the incidence increases after age 30. About half of people older than age 50 have had hemorrhoids at some time in their life.1

Many women develop hemorrhoids during the last 6 months of pregnancy and immediately postpartum.
