Nonprescription medications

Medications a person can buy without a health professional's prescription are called nonprescription or over-the-counter (OTC) medications. These medications may be taken to treat minor health problems at home.

Examples of nonprescription medications are acetaminophen, aspirin, antacids, and laxatives.
