Prevention

To help prevent diverticulitis:4

  • Eat a high-fiber diet that is low in fat and red meat.
  • Drink plenty of water.
  • Exercise regularly.

If you have had diverticulitis before, try to avoid using nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). This type of medicine could raise your risk of diverticulitis problems.4
