- Autoimmune diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis or lupus
- Bleeding disorders, such as hemophilia or von Willebrand's disease
- Cancer
- Diabetes
- Heart disease
- High blood pressure
- Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection
- Hyperthyroidism
- Hypothyroidism
- Infectious mononucleosis
