If your health professional believes you may have Cushing's syndrome, he or she will ask the following questions:

  • What medications have you taken during the past several months, including all prescription and nonprescription pills, inhalants, injections, creams, and herbal remedies? If possible, take your medications with you when you visit your health professional.
  • Why are you taking these medications? Do you have any long-term (chronic) conditions, such as asthma, arthritis, or lupus?
  • What symptoms have you had? Have you had signs or symptoms such as weight gain, fatigue, and changes in your skin or mood?
  • When did you first notice the symptoms?
  • Have your menstrual periods been irregular, absent, or changed in any way?
  • Do you smoke? Have you ever been diagnosed with cancer?
