Some other conditions that can cause symptoms similar to thyroid nodules include:
- Thyroid inflammation (thyroiditis).
- An overactive thyroid gland (hyperthyroidism, most commonly Graves' disease).
- Overdevelopment of one side (lobe) of the thyroid gland.
- Scar tissue following neck surgery.
- Regrowth of thyroid tissue after a person has thyroid surgery or radioactive iodine has been used to treat thyroid disease.
