Other conditions with symptoms similar to hemorrhoids include:
- Colon tumors, benign and cancerous.
- Pruritus ani (itching of the anus, which may or may not be caused by hemorrhoids).
- Anal fissure or anal fistula.
- Anal abscesses (infected sores in the anal canal).
- Colon polyp.
- Inflammatory bowel disease, particularly Crohn's disease.
- Genital warts (condyloma acuminata), caused by the human papillomavirus.
- Rectal prolapse.
