Some people who have scabies will develop small, round bumps (nodules) under the affected skin. Nodules can occur in adults or children.
- After treatment has killed all the adult mites, the itchy reddish-brown nodules may remain in covered areas such as the armpits, groin, buttocks, and the male genitals.
- The nodules usually go away with time, but they may remain for months.
The nodules are believed to be the result of a strong allergy to the mites, their eggs, or their feces.
